My biggest worry used to be that I would design a chair, someone would sit in it, they would fall, break a bone, and I would get sued.
Fantasy fears like that kept me paralyzed. I also didn’t feel beautiful enough to wear the clothing I designed and didn’t feel worthy enough for the diamonds in my jewelry creations.
When creative ideas come into your awareness, they serve a purpose higher than just business sometimes: they’re meant to help you grow spiritually and emotionally.
As children, we were fed a ton of lies about life, love and money, and some of those lies came in the form of fairy tales (or nightmare tales). This is where we were exposed to lives of perfection and lands of paradise when suddenly an innocent misstep triggered misfortune, destruction, death, poverty, and infiltration of evil.
It’s no wonder that as adults, we walk around with creative ideas in tow, yet also believe that the shoe will always drop should we dare act on them.
It’s as if when we receive a creative download, we scan (and beat to death) every idea through some Trust Firewall asking the universe “can I trust this? Is this safe?”
Even if the universe assures us that we are safe, still we might talk ourselves out of it. By the time that we are done processing potential dangers, it’s very likely that we’ve already killed our inspiration from fear and overthinking.
So how do you trust yourself? How do you stop second-guessing your every move? How do you stop being scared of your creativity?
It starts with neutralizing all the fears and past experiences (this life and past life) that had you believe life is not safe. It’s as simple as that.
These fears may be where you made an innocent mistake and got yourself into trouble, or lifetimes where you were persecuted for being innovative or different. It may be releasing emotional wounds from relationships where you’re not allowed to be who you are or do what you want.
It also has to do with repairing your relationship with your creator.
Do you trust the power that created you?
Many of us were programmed to distrust the universe. We’re taught that god will dangle carrots in front of us and once we reach up to grab it, it will be taken away — because we are meant to live a life of being humble, being poor, and to suffer, as we are told.
Dreams, desires and inspiration are classified as TEMPTATIONS which lead us far away from god, we are told, and therefore must be quashed.
We are told that Jesus died for our sins — because we are just such horrible, shameful, imperfect, unworthy people. As Robert Ohotto says, even the beautiful melody of “Amazing Grace” came with lyrics where we called ourselves ‘wretches’.
If we believe we are wretches — which Dictionary.com defines as deplorable and despicable, how in the world do we ever dare create, trust what we create, and trust to put it out there?
Many of us were told we are second class citizens — that god is the almighty, the most powerful, and only “He” decides what we are worthy of. This is why many healers, artists and musicians resist charging money for their work. We are told that god works for free, so humans doing god’s artistic work should too, because money apparently makes a creative endeavor unholy, manipulative, and emotionally complicated.
And with fairy tales, those stories had us believe that every good thing that happens is actually a setup, and once we fall into that trap and we fail, the universe would take our suffering as pleasure.
I used to believe that the universe would set me up to fail on purpose so I could “learn lessons.” This is constantly being told by the spiritual community that the purpose of life is to learn lessons. If this were the case, it would have people believe their every creative endeavor is littered with landmines all in service of “learning life lessons.”
In imagined scenarios, it would be like a higher power is dreaming of ways they can blow up your project at the most unexpected time just so you can “learn lessons.”
Inspiration would then be a terrifying ordeal. Some people are so scared that they flat out refuse intuitive urges thinking they are safer controlling their lives all by themselves, completely cutting themselves off from the divine.
Once these fears and experiences are neutralized, you’ll naturally trust yourself because you will be able to feel the immense love and light pouring into and out of your energy body.
When your energy system is sustained not by your own limited power but by divine power, you’ll sense a force behind you or under your wings lifting you through all creative obstacles. On this plane, there is no fear, only bliss and ecstasy. I feel it all the time. Birthing then becomes emotionally easy, even if it is physically challenging or risky.
Dreams are meant to be birthed into physical reality. This is part of the birth and death cycle on Earth. To create is to participate in the rhythm of life. Creating is as natural to your soul as it is to breathing, as you are part of the ultimate creators: god and goddess.
