Do you know what drains us? It’s the act of deciding what we love and don’t love.
For example, I can just arbitrarily decide right now that I love the color red and I don’t love the color blue.
Or, I love sunny days and don’t love rainy days.
Or, I love this type of relationship and don’t love that type of relationship.
Or, I love this type of person and don’t love that type of person.
Or, I love this kind of experience and don’t love that kind of experience.
Here’s what I’ve learned: deciding what we love and don’t love is an expression of discrimination. And while that may not necessarily cause any external conflicts when it comes to our personal preferences, it does create an atmosphere of polarity within ourselves.
This polarity, I feel, is where we are constantly ping–ponging back and forth on the spectrum from one end to the other. Our personal preferences require that we feel a certain identification to the thing we are judging. The whole act is based on favoring something and rejecting what it is not.
Not that that is wrong, but as an energy healer, I feel that doing this causes us to exert or leak unnecessary energy (meaning, it’s draining to do such things).
Because for us to love one thing and dislike/not love/reject/hate something else, it asks that we dedicate a certain amount of energy toward that orientation.
We understand that it takes a lot of energy to hate and reject something. But equally, it can take a lot of energy to love something. It’s not that loving something is draining. It’s that the choice and decision itself can drain our energy. That’s because our minds, bodies, systems, memories, psychology, and emotions are constantly having to keep score, remember our personal preferences, and reject the opposite of what we love.
Some people do feel a level of exhaustion with what they love, whether it’s a person, a career, or a mission. Something about the overidentification drains them.
Even excitement is draining, just as dread is draining. Both are opposite ends of a spectrum that involve a lot of energy.
So then what do we do?
Be inclusive of it all
In my personal reflections, I realize that the thing to do is to not discriminate.
The thing to do is to be inclusive of it all.
Be open with it all. Be non–discriminatory or non– judgmental with it all.
It’s not that you stop caring or neutralize yourself to the point of erasing your own personality and charisma.
It’s not that you need to become a boring blob with no likes or dislikes.
I just mean open your heart to it all.
Even the unwanted. Even the ugly. Even the evil.
You don’t have to love it. Or hate it. Just include it.
And let that come inside your heart and touch your heart. And let it be “whatever.” (Truly.)
Being inclusive of it all means we are in a more stabilized dimension of existence. It means we aren’t directing our energies to favor or resist anything. Everything comes, goes, and flows freely.
Inclusivity means embrace. It’s like answering a multiple–choice question. Allowing life means to tick the box next to “all of the above.”
Choice means exclusion. It would be ticking only one option, saying yes to what we like and no to what we don’t like.
Of course, no one wants to opt into what they don’t like, but here’s the thing: our minds don’t know what is good for us. Often, it is what we reject and avoid that holds the richest treasure.
If we live from a space of “I have no idea what is best for me” and just allow what comes, then we are truly surfing life on its highest potential.
Falling in love with life itself
If you can find a way to be in love with life itself, you’ll feel inclusive of all aspects of life. Without loving some of it or hating some of it.
If being in love feels challenging for you, imagine including what you find difficult as a part of you. And that everything that comes into contact with you becomes touched by this inclusivity.
Because what we include, we don’t reject.
And when we don’t reject, we are free to experience more of life and all of its nuances, flavors, and dimensions.
Our energies would be flowing freely everywhere all the time, not just to certain areas some of the time.
What do you feel about this? I hope this has sparked a new level of awareness within you.
